Area Information

Some restaurants here are noted for their fried catfish and shrimp, although steaks and other entrees are available. Others are noted for their great breakfasts and lunches. These restaurants are located within five miles of Bell's View.

You Can Tour Caddo Lake From Several Locations. Among the types of Tours are:

  • Pontoon Barge Lake Tours

  • Steamboat Lake Tour

  • Paddlewheel Boat Lake Tour

  • Caddo Outback Tour

  • Go-Devil Boat Lake Tour (This is a shallow draft prop driven boat which allows you to go into areas of the lake not normally accessible by other boats.)

Of course, the boat operators will give you a narrated tour of the lake. You will see all of the various plant life and if your lucky, some of the wildlife of the area. Blue Herons and Great White Egrets are common to the area as well as over 200 other species of birds. The most exciting event is the chance to see an alligator. We have several beaver dens in the lake and the chance to see the beavers out and about is a "Kodak moment". Deer have been seen on some of the islands in Caddo, so bring your camera to take home memories of your stay here. If you want to tour the lake on your own, bring your boat or canoe. If you don't have one, you can rent a boat with motor or canoe from one of the local businesses. From time to time, jet skies are available for rent. If it's your first visit to Caddo Lake, we recommend a paid tour before going out on your own. A map with the boat lane markings is a must, as the lake can be very confusing to the new visitor.

For those who like to fish, come and try to break the lake record of a 16 pound bass. There are several local fishing guides who know the lake very well. They are experts at helping you catch fish during your visit. There are several species of fish at Caddo, including bass, brim, crappie, catfish and pike, but you never know what you might catch, as the lake is also home to alligator gar, drum, buffalo, goggle eye perch and others.

There are local stores in the area that carry groceries, beer, fishing tackle and ice. Souvenirs are also available.

There is a flea market open every 1st and 3rd weekend. A small art gallery is next to it.

Caddo Lake State Park is a favorite of visitors to the area and is only five miles from Bell's View. The park offers swimming, tours, canoe rental and hiking trails.

There are several churches in the area that would welcome you to join their services during your visit to the Caddo Lake area.

You can drive and view the homes or take one of the horse and carriage tours available for hire. Several of the homes are open for tours throughout the year.
